University of Bari "Aldo Moro"

University of Bari “Aldo Moro” (UNIBA) is a public university founded in 1925. The Department of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Sciences, involved in the NARCOSIS project, is the scientific and educational structure that provides consistent references to students interested in the knowledge, design, preparation, and use of pharmaceuticals, carrying on the legacy of the ancient and rich history of the Faculty of Pharmacy, with its 90 years of existence at the UNIBA.
The expertise of the UNIBA includes organic electronics, bioelectronics, optoelectronics, tailoring of surfaces, sensors and biosensors, soft matter, analytical sciences, forensic analytical chemistry, biostatistics, multivariate data processing and chemometrics. UNIBA is specialised in activities on multivariate data processing of the omics data - ranging from proteomics and metabolomics to genomics - and on the integration of these data suing data fusion approaches into ad hoc data analysis software that is developed within UNIBA itself. By integrating and combining data from multiple sources, this process achieves better fitting performance with respect to common single machine learning methods. UNIBA hosts programmes of research that seek to improve early detection of a wide range of biomarkers (including but not limited to metabolites), thus enabling the application of the technology to several fields of the bioanalysis.
The available laboratory facilities include laboratories fully equipped for biomolecules manipulation, (bio)sensors fabrication and characterization, devices automated testing facilities, thin film deposition systems, spectroscopic surface and bulk characterization setups.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme (Civil Security for Society) under grant agreement No 101168195.
